For this class, I chose to view the peer review task as more than anassignment requirement, and instead as an opportunity for me to develop my voice.

These papers show the specific, constructive feedback that I received for my synthesis essay. In preparation for the synthesis essay, I made certain that the ideas that I had come up with made sense to more than one classmate. This meant that I both took suggestions seriously and engaged in an iterative process of revision, comparing my work from different classmates, such as in the first draft of the synthesis essay.

I was able to improve my draft writing into better and more convincing final versions by utilizing this feedback. I came to appreciate the importance of outside perspective, which assisted me in making my communication relevant to the experience of my readers. Reading other people’s writing helped me develop my critical eye that I was able to employ in my self editing.
